Ghana FA in Talks with Joachim Löw

The top hierarchy of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has engaged former Germany head coach Joachim Löw over a possible takeover of the vacant Black Stars coaching role.

This follows Ghana’s decision to part ways with former player Otto Addo, who was appointed in June 2024 to steer the affairs of the team but was shown the exit door after a heavy defeat to Austria and a narrow loss to Germany during the FIFA international friendly window.

The move is expected to be finalized within a week. Sources say the former German trainer has shown readiness to take up the vacant role after assessing the players’ profile and the composition of his potential backroom staff.

Joachim Löw guided the German national team, Die Mannschaft, to their fourth World Cup triumph in Brazil 12 years ago.

As stated by GFA President Kurt E.S. Okraku in an interview with Media General two days ago, following Ghana’s defeat to Germany in Stuttgart, the FA boss indicated that a high-profile figure would soon be appointed to handle the technical affairs of the Black Stars.

Ghana has been drawn in the same group with England, Croatia, and Panama, and has only a few months to prepare for the Mundial.
