Ghana FA scouts UK-based talents in major diaspora identification programme

The Ghana Football Association has intensified efforts to strengthen the future of the national teams after organising a talent identification programme for young players of Ghanaian descent in the United Kingdom.

A total of 40 players born in the UK and currently playing in Category One academies participated in the inaugural exercise held in Bromley.

The programme, organised in partnership with Coach Hene Sporting Club, Ghanaians in the UK and Prince Lamona Consult, aimed to identify and engage promising young talents eligible to represent Ghana in the future.

Players between the U15 and U20 age categories from top academies including Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City and Everton were assessed during the session.

The exercise was supervised by Ghana FA Technical Director Professor Mintah and FIFA Talent Coach Stuart McLaren, alongside coaches from Coach Hene Sporting Club, who closely monitored standout performers throughout the programme.

The initiative forms part of the Ghana FA’s broader strategy to strengthen the talent pipeline for the Black Stars and other national teams through diaspora engagement and early player identification.

The football association is expected to expand the programme in the coming months to include Category Two and Three academies as well as grassroots football structures across the UK and other countries with strong Ghanaian communities.
