Ghanaian parliamentarian to earn €7.9 million over Fatawu Issahaku’s permanent move to Leicester City

Ghanaian Division One outfit, Steadfast FC, owned by MP for Tamale South Haruna Iddrissu, stands to receive a significant windfall of €7.9 million if Fatawu Issahaku completes his permanent transfer to Leicester City this summer. The talented winger, who initially joined Leicester on a season-long loan from Sporting CP, is now poised for a permanent move to the Foxes.

The transfer agreement between Leicester and Sporting CP includes a clause obligating Leicester to pay €17 million for Issahaku’s services if certain conditions are met. These conditions include Issahaku’s participation in at least 60% of the club’s games and Leicester’s successful promotion. With both criteria fulfilled, Leicester is now eager to secure Issahaku’s permanent signature.

However, Leicester’s pursuit of Issahaku comes at a time when the club faces a transfer embargo due to breaches of profit and sustainability regulations during the 2022/23 season. Despite this setback, Leicester remains determined to finalize the transfer.

Once Leicester pays the €17 million fee for Issahaku, Steadfast FC stands to benefit from a 50% share of the value gained on the transfer, as stipulated by the terms of the agreement. Considering that Sporting CP acquired Issahaku for €1.2 million in 2022, the increased value on the transfer amounts to €15.8 million. This substantial sum will be evenly split between Steadfast FC and Sporting CP, resulting in a substantial financial boost for both clubs.

Issahaku’s stellar performances for Leicester, including six goals and 13 assists that contributed to the club’s Championship triumph, have solidified his reputation as a rising star in football. His imminent permanent transfer to Leicester represents a significant milestone in his career and promises further success on the horizon.

Owned by Ghanaian politician Haruna Iddrisu, who also holds ownership of Ghana Premier League club Karela United, Steadfast FC stands to benefit greatly from Issahaku’s transfer. The influx of funds will undoubtedly enhance the club’s financial stability and pave the way for future growth and development within the Ghanaian football landscape.
