Berekum Chelsea and Accra Hearts of Oak battled to an entertaining but goalless draw in their Matchweek 23 encounter at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Legon.
Hearts signalled their intent almost immediately after kickoff. Within the opening minutes, a dangerous delivery from Amankwah Baafi flashed across the face of goal, narrowly evading Mawuli Wayo who stretched but could not apply the finishing touch.
The Phobians maintained early momentum, pinning Chelsea back with waves of pressure. Goalkeeper Eric Ofori Antwi, however, proved equal to the task for the visitors, producing a string of timely saves to keep the home side at bay.
Chelsea gradually settled and nearly struck against the run of play. Dominic Frimpong embarked on a powerful run into the attacking third before unleashing a fierce effort that forced Benjamin Asare into a sharp stop.
After the restart, the contest opened up with both teams showing greater urgency. End-to-end exchanges followed, yet composure in the final third remained elusive.
Hearts carved out promising opportunities as the half wore on, but Ofori Antwi, facing his former club, delivered an assured performance between the posts to frustrate the hosts time and again.
The stalemate sees Hearts slip from second to third place on the league standings with 40 points. Their next assignment is a demanding trip to face Bibiani Gold Stars FC.
For Chelsea, the draw extends their long wait for a victory over the Phobians and leaves them hovering in 15th position on 27 points. They will look to improve their standing when they host Young Apostles FC in their upcoming fixture.
