Former Ghana assistant coach, George Boateng has recounted his experience after playing a major role in the country’s qualification to the 2022 World Cup.
After disappointing Ghanaians at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, the Black Stars were drawn with rivals, Nigeria in the playoffs of the World Cup.
The first leg staged at the Baba Yara Stadium ended goalless. However, the return leg at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja also ended 1-1 with a beautiful strike from captain Thomas Party to give Ghana the lead in the first half which saw Ghana through the football Mondial finals in Qatar.
Reflecting on his experience as an assistant coach along with Didi Dramani, Boateng had some beautiful memories to share on his journey with the national team.
“We qualified for the World Cup 2022 in Qatar, it was unbelievable for me as a coach to be in the World Cup,” he told Tribal Football.
“I really enjoyed that experience and it made me realize why people speak so highly about tournaments like the World Cup,” he concluded.
