Ibrahim Tanko Backs Salim Adams for Black Stars Recognition

Head coach of Medeama SC, Ibrahim Tanko, believes midfielder Salim Adams is deserving of a chance with the Black Stars following his impressive performances this season.

Adams has been one of Medeama’s standout players in the ongoing Ghana Premier League campaign, contributing five goals in 19 matches as the Tarkwa-based side remain firmly in the title conversation. Since joining at the start of the 2025/26 season, the 23-year-old has cemented his place in Tanko’s starting lineup with energetic displays and an eye for goal.

His consistent form has sparked conversation among fans about a potential senior national team invitation ahead of the FIFA World Cup, set to take place in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Tanko has now added his voice to the calls, praising the midfielder’s development and impact.

“Everyone can see that Salim has been outstanding and scoring important goals. The Black Stars technical team follows the league closely, so if he continues this way, I believe his opportunity will come.”

Adams already has experience at international level, having represented Ghana’s U23 side, where he made two appearances and found the net once.

The midfielder first gained national attention after moving from New Edubiase United to Hearts of Oak in 2021. During his spell with the Phobians, he also broadened his experience abroad with a loan stint at FC Cincinnati 2 in the United States.

With Medeama pushing strongly in the league and Adams maintaining his fine form, the midfielder’s case for a maiden senior call-up continues to gather momentum.
