“I’m grateful to the FA for believing in me” – Laryea Kingston

Laryea Kingston, former Ghanaian footballer, expressed his appreciation towards the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for showing faith in him by appointing him as the head coach of the Black Starlets.

Kingston faced a significant challenge in his international coaching career during the WAFU Zone B U17 Championship match against Ivory Coast, where he proved his coaching prowess by leading the Black Starlets to a commanding 5-1 victory in the tournament’s opening game.

Following the match, Kingston addressed the media and specifically commended the Ghana Football Association for their trust and support in him.

He highlighted his goal of changing the team’s trajectory since his arrival in Ghana, aiming to qualify the team for the AFCON, a feat they haven’t achieved since 2017.

“I’ll always thank the FA for believing in me and calling me to come all the way from Denmark to take the team,” Laryea said.

“From the first day that I came to Ghana, my aim is to change the narrative. That means qualifying the team to the AFCON that has eluded us since 2017,” he acknowledged.

Looking ahead, Ghana is set to face Benin in their second group game at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Tuesday.
