Ghanaian defender Issaka Seidu is closing in on a move to Swedish giants IFK Göteborg after impressing with his performances for Superettan side Ljungskile SK.
The 20-year-old left-back has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Allsvenskan club and is expected to complete the transfer once the two clubs finalise the remaining details of the deal.
Negotiations are still ongoing over the structure of the move, with discussions centred on whether the transfer will be permanent or another arrangement.
Seidu has already bid farewell to Ljungskile, informing the club that he has played his final match as he prepares for the next chapter of his career.
The young Ghanaian enjoyed an outstanding campaign in Sweden’s second tier, making 12 league appearances while contributing one goal and one assist. His consistent performances established him as one of the division’s most reliable full-backs and attracted interest from several clubs.
Although currently contracted to Danish outfit FC Nordsjaelland, Seidu joined Ljungskile to gain regular first-team football, a decision that appears to have accelerated his development.
A move to IFK Göteborg would hand the defender his first opportunity to compete in Sweden’s top flight and continue his rapid progression in European football.
Should the transfer be completed, Seidu will become the latest Ghanaian talent to feature in the Allsvenskan, a league that has helped launch the careers of several Ghanaian players before earning moves to some of Europe’s biggest competitions.
