“It will be a good possibility for others to show themselves” — Addo stays upbeat despite key injuries

Otto Addo remains optimistic ahead of Ghana’s international friendly against Austria, despite being without key forwards Iñaki Williams and Brandon Thomas-Asante due to injury.

The absence of the two attackers has forced changes in the Black Stars squad, but Addo insists the situation presents an opportunity rather than a setback.

“If somebody gets injured, it’s always not a good situation… I’m really sorry for them. But it will be a good possibility also for the others to show themselves,” he said during his pre-match press conference.

The Ghana coach expressed confidence in the depth and readiness of his squad, adding that the team remains in good shape heading into the game.

Replacement forward Ransford Yeboah Königsdörffer has already joined the team in Vienna, with Addo praising his early contributions in training.

“Königsdörffer came to replace them and he’s been good. We have to focus on what is ahead of us. There’s no need to look behind,” Addo added.

Ghana will take on Austria national football team at the Ernst Happel Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 17:00 GMT, as preparations continue for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
