The West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B will officially unveil Jamil Maraby as President of its newly established Marketing Committee during a ceremony slated for May 9, 2026, at the organization’s headquarters in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
The event forms part of WAFU Zone B’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its administrative and commercial structures following the recent formation of key committees within the sub-regional football body.
Maraby’s appointment, initially confirmed in December 2025, was approved during the 18th Ordinary General Assembly of WAFU Zone B held in Rabat, Morocco. His selection highlights the confidence the organization has in his expertise and leadership within sports marketing and commercial development.
The newly created Marketing Committee is considered a major step forward for WAFU Zone B as it seeks to improve the visibility, branding, and commercial value of its competitions and programmes across the region.
As committee president, Maraby will work closely with Abdoulaye Diabaté from Côte d’Ivoire and Tiendrebeogo Jérôme of Burkina Faso, who will serve as members. The team is expected to focus on sponsorship acquisition, partnership development, and innovative marketing strategies aimed at increasing revenue generation for the zone.
Maraby is widely recognized within African football circles for his strong background in sports marketing. Serving as the Marketing Director of the Ghana Football Association, he has been instrumental in attracting key sponsorships and partnerships that have boosted the commercial profile of Ghana football in recent years.
His new role at WAFU Zone B is expected to bring fresh commercial opportunities and help elevate the image and marketability of football competitions within the sub-region.
