Derby County head coach John Eustace has praised Ghana forward Mohammed Fuseini following his impressive first start for the Championship club.
Fuseini started and completed the full 90 minutes in Derby County’s 1-0 defeat to West Bromwich Albion, making his first appearance in the starting lineup since joining the Rams during the recently concluded transfer window.
The 23-year-old joined Derby on a season-long loan from Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise, with the Ghana international now looking to establish himself as an important part of Eustace’s squad.
Despite Derby’s defeat, Fuseini’s direct approach and attacking threat stood out, earning praise from his manager after the game.
“It was an excellent debut for him. I thought he was excellent. He was really exciting out there, and that’s why we brought him to the football club. Overall, I thought his performance was very good,” Eustace said.
The Derby boss, however, believes Fuseini can still improve his effectiveness in the final third, particularly with his delivery and finishing. “Obviously, we need a little bit more consistency with his quality in the final third, with his crosses and finishing. So, I’m sure that will come,” he added.
Fuseini will now hope to build on the encouraging debut as he continues adapting to English football and competes for a regular starting place at Derby County.
