Jordan will take over from now – Black Stars coach Otto Addo

Ghana’s Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo, has provided clarity on the team’s leadership structure ahead of the upcoming qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, November 7, Coach Otto Addo confirmed that Jordan Ayew will take over as the team’s captain for the crucial games against Angola and Niger.

The 33 years old experience striker will be leading the team after coach Addo talked with Mohammed Kudus who served as captain during the October international break.

Coach Otto Addo also made it known to both Mohammed Kudus and Alexander Djiku they will now be the team’s deputy captains, a decision the coach says was discussed directly with the West Ham United Star Boy.

“I talked to [Mohammed] Kudus for him to understand that for me he just needs to learn and grow. I want him to remain the second captain alongside [Alexander] Djiku, but Jordan will take over from now,” Coach Addo said.

Ghana Black Stars will take on Angola at Estadio 11 de Novembro in Luanda on Friday, November 15 before facing Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, November 18, 2024.
