Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren has admitted Ghana will face a much tougher challenge when they take on Cameroon in their second Group D fixture at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The Black Queens head into Sunday’s encounter full of confidence after opening their campaign with a convincing 2-0 victory over Cape Verde, but the Swedish tactician believes the Indomitable Lionesses possess greater quality and experience.
Speaking ahead of the crucial clash, Bjorkegren said he expects Cameroon to provide a far sterner test than Ghana’s opening opponents.
“I expect Cameroon to be one level up than Cape Verde. We are going to play against a good Cameroon team with experienced players,” he said.
The Black Queens know victory at the Moulay Rachid Stadium in Casablanca would secure qualification to the quarter-finals with a game to spare, while also strengthening their hopes of mounting a serious challenge for the continental title.
Beyond progressing in Morocco, Ghana are also chasing a place at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, with the four semi-finalists at this year’s WAFCON earning qualification to the global tournament.
