Laryea Kingston not under any pressure to succeed – GFA Communication Director Henry Asante Twum

Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum says Laryea Kingston is not under pressure to win the ongoing WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship.

Ghana’s U-17 won their first game in an amazing fashion five past their Ivorian last weekend at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

Ghana U17 face Benin in the second group game on Tuesday, May 21 and a win means Kingston’s boys will secure qualification to the semifinals. Kick-off is scheduled art 18:00GMT.

“The Black Starlets are on course, On Tuesday we pray they win and win the semi-final, then we are back on the African continent,” Asante Twum told Asaase Radio.

The finalist of the WAFU Zone B Championship will qualify for the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations next year as Black Starlets’ last AFCON appearance was in 2017 when they finished as runners-up losing to Mali in the final.

When asked about the targets set for Kingston, Asante Twum replied;

“to form a good team, and then qualify the team to major competitions. That is the bottom line there’s no pressure on Laryea Kingston to succeed”.

“We believe in his capabilities and his competencies. He has shown over the years that he is a top-quality manager,” he added.
