Black Satellites head coach Maxwell Konadu has challenged his players to respond positively when they face Burkina Faso in a crucial Group B clash at the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship, insisting Ghana’s qualification hopes remain alive.
The Black Satellites suffered a disappointing 4-2 defeat to Nigeria in their opening fixture, leaving them with little room for error as they chase a place in the semi-finals of the regional tournament.
Despite the setback, Konadu says the mood in camp remains positive, with the team determined to learn from the defeat and deliver an improved performance against Burkina Faso.
“Our heads are up, we are not going to give up because we know you can’t win all matches. The defeat tells us that we have more room for improvement,” the Ghana coach said.
Konadu also acknowledged the threat posed by Burkina Faso but stressed that his side understands the importance of securing all three points.
“We know the Burkinabè are really strong. But we’re fully prepared. We have absolutely no choice but to win this game because we need the points,” he added.
The Black Satellites will take on Burkina Faso at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro on Thursday, July 30, before wrapping up their Group B campaign against Togo on Sunday, August 2, as they bid to keep their WAFU B title hopes alive.
