Renowned Ghanaian journalist and SWAG President Kwabena Yeboah has thrown his support behind the appointment of Carlos Queiroz as head coach of the Ghana national football team.
Queiroz replaces Otto Addo, who was dismissed following a disappointing March international window that saw Ghana suffer defeats to Austria and Germany, raising concerns ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Reacting to the appointment, Yeboah expressed confidence in the Portuguese tactician’s authority and experience, insisting he has the personality to command respect within the squad.
“I don’t think any player will ever attempt to disregard him,” he stated.
The veteran broadcaster believes Queiroz’s vast experience at top clubs and national teams, including roles with Real Madrid, Manchester United, and the Egypt national team, makes him well-suited to handle the pressures of the job and manage high-profile players.
With the World Cup fast approaching, Ghana will be hoping the new coach can quickly stabilise the team and build momentum ahead of the tournament.
The Black Stars are set to open their campaign against Panama national football team on June 17 in Toronto, before facing England national football team and Croatia national football team in what promises to be a challenging Group L.
