Sudan head coach James Kwesi Appiah has firmly rejected reports linking him with a return to the Ghana national team, insisting there has been no contact regarding the vacant coaching role.
The position became available after the Ghana Football Association parted ways with Otto Addo following defeats to the Austria national team and the Germany national team in recent friendlies.
Addressing the speculation, Appiah made it clear he is fully committed to his current role with Sudan.
“There is no truth in the reports. I have not been contacted, and my focus remains on my job,” he stated.
Appiah’s name had surfaced among potential candidates due to his previous experience with Ghana, where he notably led the team to qualification for the 2014 FIFA World Cup—making him the first local coach to achieve that feat.
Meanwhile, other names continue to circulate, including Hervé Renard, Tom Saintfiet, and Eric Chelle, as the GFA intensifies its search for a new head coach.
With time ticking ahead of the 2026 World Cup, the FA faces increasing pressure to appoint a successor capable of stabilising the team and restoring confidence within the squad.
