Assistant trainer of the Black Starlets, Nana Kweku Agyemang, has expressed satisfaction with the team’s progress as preparations intensify for the upcoming CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
With the tournament drawing closer, the two-time world champions are stepping up their build-up programme to ensure the squad reaches peak condition before travelling to Morocco in April.
As part of their assessment schedule, the Starlets played two Division One League sides on Wednesday, February 18, at the Ohene Gyan Stadium. They secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Port City FC before registering a comfortable 2-0 win against Na God FC, maintaining clean sheets in both encounters.
Reflecting on the performances, the Vision FC head coach highlighted the team’s defensive improvement compared to previous outings.
“We want to know how they react when they are playing against these sides. The fact that they didn’t concede, that’s good,” he said.
He admitted that in earlier friendlies the team showed promise but allowed avoidable goals.
“Last week we played against Na God and another team. I think we conceded in both games. Although we still won, but we conceded in both games.”
The assistant coach believes the recent clean sheets demonstrate visible progress in training.
“So, the fact that this time around they didn’t concede tells a lot about the work that we are doing at the moment. I think that the boys did well.”
The Black Starlets are scheduled to depart for Morocco in April to compete in the 2026 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations, where they aim to reclaim continental glory.
