Henry Asante Twum has stressed that no player is guaranteed a place in the Ghana national football team as competition intensifies within the squad.
The Ghana Football Association official made it clear that newly invited players, as well as established stars, must prove themselves to earn selection.
Four players — Derrick Luckassen, Marvin Senaya, Daniel Agyei and Patrick Pfeiffer — have been handed debut call-ups in the latest squad announced by Otto Addo.
According to Asante Twum, the move is aimed at increasing internal competition and improving performance levels.
“We have spoken to several players and we are happy to have them, but they will have to compete for a place in the team,” he said.
“Those already in the team must also improve because competition will make the squad better.”
The Black Stars are set to take on Austria national football team and Germany national football team later this month as they continue preparations for future tournaments.
