Ghana international Prince Osei Owusu has opened up about his decision to represent the Black Stars, explaining that playing for his family’s roots was always the right choice.
The CF Montreal forward previously featured for Germany at youth level before committing his international future to Ghana, making his senior debut during the Kirin Cup tournament last year.
Speaking to GhanaSoccerNet.Com Owusu says the decision to switch allegiance was guided by his connection to Ghana and the pride it brings to his family.
“To be honest it was a longer thought for me to play for my roots. I think players, it doesn’t matter where you were born, you should represent the roots of your family,” he explained.
The striker recently spent time in Ghana during the festive season, celebrating the New Year with relatives, an experience he described as deeply meaningful.
“It was crazy when I did my debut last season and this year I was in Ghana too, in December to New Year. I celebrated the New Year in Ghana with my family and it was a special moment,” he said.
Owusu believes representing Ghana brings great pride to his loved ones and says the choice was ultimately straightforward.
“For me it was pretty clear I wanted to play for Ghana and represent Ghana, and this makes my family proud. This was an easy answer for me,” he concluded.
