Prince Yaw Owusu fined as Charge Against Karim Zito Is Dropped

Head coach of Asante Kotoko SC, Prince Yaw Owusu, has been handed a GHS 10,000 fine by the Ghana Football Association Disciplinary Committee following incidents that occurred after Kotoko’s Ghana Premier League clash with Bibiani GoldStars FC.

According to the GFA, Owusu was charged with misconduct after his actions towards match officials were deemed inappropriate. The committee concluded that the Kotoko trainer engaged the referees in an aggressive manner, which amounted to unsporting behaviour under league regulations.

As part of the ruling, the coach has also received an official warning and has been given 14 days to settle the fine from the date he was notified.

In a related development, disciplinary proceedings involving Kotoko’s technical director, Karim Zito, have been dropped. The GFA explained that the decision was taken after additional assessment of the evidence, following which Zito was formally cleared.

As of now, Asante Kotoko have not issued any public response to the sanctions as the Ghana Premier League season continues.
