Prosper Narteh Ogum has opened up on his early football ambitions, revealing that family pressure forced him to abandon his dream of becoming a professional player.
The current Ghana national under-17 football team head coach disclosed that he had the talent and passion to pursue a career on the pitch but had to make a difficult decision during his formative years.
“I wanted to be a professional footballer, but family pressure, especially from my mum, made me stop,” he said during an interview on the KSM Show.
Ogum added that his ability on the field had earned him notable comparisons during his school days, highlighting his natural talent.
“In secondary school, I was called Marco van Basten, and at college I was called Ronaldo Nazário,” he revealed.
Despite not pursuing a playing career, Ogum has carved out a successful path in coaching, rising through the ranks to become one of the respected tacticians in Ghanaian football.
He currently leads the Black Starlets as they prepare for the upcoming U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, where Ghana will be aiming to make a strong impact on the continental stage.
