League leaders Medeama SC will travel to Samreboi on Sunday to face FC Samartex 1996 in a highly anticipated Ghana Premier League matchweek 23 encounter.
The Timber Giants will be eager to bounce back after suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Swedru All Blacks in their previous outing. Despite that setback, Samartex have enjoyed a respectable campaign, collecting nine wins, eight draws and five losses from 22 matches.
Under the guidance of head coach Christopher Ennin, the Samreboi-based side have built a reputation as a tactically disciplined outfit, particularly strong when playing at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena, where they will be hoping to leverage home advantage to chase a top-four push.
Currently sitting sixth on the table with 35 points, Samartex will be targeting a victory to close the gap on the league’s leading pack.
Medeama SC arrive in confident mood as the division’s pace-setters this season. The Yellow and Mauve occupy first position with 44 points after 22 matches, recording 12 wins, four draws and only two defeats.
The visitors have been impressive under head coach Ibrahim Tanko, showing consistency across both defensive and attacking phases of play. Their objective will be to maintain their position at the summit by securing a positive result on the road, even though they are aware that trips to Samreboi are often challenging.
The encounter is scheduled to kick off at 3:00pm on Sunday. Both teams will be aiming for maximum points in what promises to be a fiercely contested battle at the top of the standings.
