Aduana FC produced a remarkable performance to defeat Asante Kotoko 2-0 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday, securing a statement victory despite playing more than 50 minutes with 10 men.
Samuel Boadu’s side delivered an impressive combination of defensive discipline, organisation and clinical finishing to hand Kotoko their first defeat of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League campaign.
Aduana made the perfect start when Stephen Amankona capitalised on an error from Kotoko goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad after just seven minutes to put the visitors ahead. Their task became more difficult late in the first half when Raymond Agyemang was shown a second yellow card within five minutes, leaving Aduana with 10 men.
Despite the numerical disadvantage, Aduana remained compact and frustrated Kotoko throughout the second half. The visitors also continued to threaten on the counter-attack and came close to extending their lead when they struck the post.
Kotoko pushed forward in search of an equaliser, but Aduana remained resolute before sealing the victory late on. Seidu Saana raced onto a counter-attacking opportunity, went past Danlad and calmly finished through the legs of the last defender on the line to make it 2-0.
The victory takes Aduana FC to seven points from their opening four matches, while Kotoko suffer their first defeat of the campaign. Boadu’s side will next face AshantiGold, with Kotoko looking to respond against Young Apostles.
