Irish club St Patrick’s Athletic have honoured Ghanaian goalkeeper Joseph Anang after he became the first active player in the club’s history to receive a FIFA World Cup call-up.
The club presented Anang with a commemorative frame during a special ceremony attended by goalkeeping coach Pat Jennings and his teammates, recognising the historic milestone in the 25-year-old’s career.
In a statement shared on social media, St Patrick’s Athletic celebrated the achievement, saying:
“Joseph Anang was presented with a commemorative frame to mark becoming the first active St Patrick’s Athletic player to be called up to a FIFA World Cup by Goalkeeping Coach Pat Jennings & his team-mates today.”
Anang earned his maiden FIFA World Cup call-up after an impressive campaign with the Irish Premier Division side, where his consistent performances established him as one of the league’s standout goalkeepers.
The Black Stars goalkeeper now holding a unique place in the club’s history as its first active player to represent his country at football’s biggest tournament.
