The match-fixing is collapsing our game – McDan

The Chief Executive Officer of McDan Group of Companies, Daniel McKorley has called on the leadership of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to sanitize the football ecosystem to attract sponsorship.

However, the President of the GFA, Kurt Okraku in a media engagement last weekend in Sunyani reiterated their effort to secure a new headline sponsor.

Mr McKorley in an interview confirmed his desire to sponsor the Ghana Premier League but raised concerns of gambling and match fixing.

According to him, the leadership of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) must sanitize the system to attract sponsorships from the corporate world.

“I can sponsor the Ghana Premier League but the gambling is too much,” McKorley told Asempa FM.

“The match-fixing is collapsing our game. You will watch a game and how a goalkeeper will concede a goal is funny and it is because someone must win a bet.

“Football is a nice game but our players cannot play for years. It is about time we sanitise our game,” he added.

Meanwhile, the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season will kick off on September 6.
