The third edition of the Inter-Tribes Football Tournament has kicked off with a bang! The first round of group games has come to a close, and what a thrilling start it’s been!
Defending champions Moshie began their title defense with a convincing win over Mamprushi in Group D, while last year’s runner-up Songhai suffered a shocking defeat against debutant Builsa in the opening Group A game.
Asante recorded the biggest scoreline of the round, thrashing Bissa 3-0 in Group F, while previous winners Hausa were held to a goalless draw against Wangara.
The first round saw some interesting matchups and upsets, with 12 matches yielding 20 goals and plenty of drama!
Group A saw Songhai fall to debutant Kanjaga in the tournament opener Frafra suffered a defeat to Yoruba, showcasing the competitiveness of the group.
Group B saw Dagomba edged out Banda, and Ewe shared the spoils with Gurma.
Group C witnessed a goalless draw between Hausa and Wangara taking Hausa winless run to four, while Zabarma walloped Buzaaye 3-1 on the day.
Group D saw Holders Moshie beat Mamprushi, and Kotokoli pip Waala in a come back victory setting the stage for an exciting contest in the group.
Group E had Fante succumbed to Gonja, and Fulani defeat Yadigawa, showcasing the strength of the teams in the group.
Group F witnessed Asante thrashed Bissa, and Chokosi edge out Gurunshi/Sissala, indicating a strong contest in the group.
The first round saw 8 teams keep clean sheets, with 10 wins and 2 draws, setting the stage for an exciting tournament ahead!
