“This Move Gives Stella the Chance to Keep Growing” – Yael Averbuch West on Nyamekye’s Switch to SK Brann

Ghana international Stella Nyamekye has sealed a permanent transfer to Norwegian outfit SK Brann Kvinner from American club NJ/NY Gotham FC, with both teams confirming the agreement on Tuesday.

The deal, completed for an undisclosed amount, is expected to be finalized once her International Transfer Certificate is processed.

Nyamekye’s move to Scandinavia marks a fresh chapter in a career that has steadily gathered momentum. She spent the latter part of last season on loan with Fort Lauderdale United in the USL Super League, where she featured 14 times, registering a goal and two assists. Her performances there followed her earlier development in Ghana with Dreamz Ladies FC before making the jump abroad.

Gotham FC’s General Manager and Head of Soccer Operations, Yael Averbuch West, spoke warmly about the midfielder’s progression during her time in the United States.

“We’re proud of the progress Stella has made during her time with Gotham FC,” Averbuch West said.

“This move gives her the opportunity to step into a new environment and continue building on that growth. We’re excited to see her take this next step and will be closely following her success at SK Brann.”

The transfer comes on the back of Nyamekye’s recent involvement with Ghana’s senior women’s national team at the Pink Ladies Cup in Dubai. She played a key role in the Black Queens campaign and was on target in their emphatic 4-0 win over Russia, further strengthening her reputation on the international stage.

Now heading to Norway, the dynamic midfielder will be aiming to establish herself in European football while continuing her rise with the Black Queens.
