Thomas Partey Begins Al Shabab Chapter with Saudi Pro League Debut

Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey made his debut for Saudi Pro League side Al Shabab in their clash against Al-Khaleej, marking the beginning of a new chapter following his move to Saudi Arabia.

Partey came off the bench and featured for 33 minutes, giving Al Shabab supporters their first glimpse of the experienced Ghana international in competitive action. Despite his limited time on the pitch, the midfielder showed his composure and quality in possession.

The 33-year-old completed 94% of his passes, finding his teammates with 16 of 17 attempts, while he was also perfect with his distribution over longer distances, completing both of his attempted long balls.

Partey came close to marking his debut with a goal in the 80th minute, but his effort narrowly missed the target. The chance highlighted his willingness to contribute beyond his defensive and playmaking duties.

The midfielder brings vast experience to Al Shabab after spells with Atlético Madrid, Arsenal and Villarreal, as well as years of international football with the Black Stars.

After his promising first appearance, Partey will now look to build his fitness, adapt to his new surroundings and establish himself as an important figure in Al Shabab’s midfield throughout the 2026/27 season.
