Defending champions University for Development Studies (UDS) have advanced to the final of the African Universities Championship after recording an emphatic 4-0 victory over Delta University in Cairo, Egypt.
The Ghanaian representatives delivered a commanding display in the semi-final, controlling the game and maintaining their grip on the contest as they moved closer to another continental title.
UDS established a comfortable advantage during the encounter and continued to dictate proceedings as Delta University struggled to find a way back into the match.
The defending champions eventually sealed the result with a late flourish, with Abdul Majeed Suglo finding the back of the net in injury time to complete the 4-0 scoreline.
The comprehensive victory sends UDS through to the championship final, where they will have the chance to successfully defend the title they previously won.
The result further underlines the strength of the Ghanaian side’s campaign in Cairo, having remained focused on their objective of securing consecutive African Universities Championship titles.
UDS will now shift their attention to the final, with the team one victory away from retaining their continental crown and returning to Ghana as back-to-back champions.
