Veteran Karim Zito takes over as Ghana’s U19 coach in GFA restructures roles for 2024

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has appointed the esteemed Abdul Karim Zito as the Head Coach of the newly established national U19 male team, solidifying Ghana’s dedication to fostering youth football talent.

Additionally, Eric Amponsah, renowned for his goalkeeping prowess, will serve as the team’s dedicated goalkeeper trainer, further enhancing the coaching staff with specialized knowledge.

Hailing from the renowned Feyernord Academy, Zito has managed Ghana’s most storied clubs, including Asante Kotoko, Hearts of Oak, King Faisal, and Kwaebibirem FC.

His vast experience and tactical acumen, demonstrated by victories such as the U20 WAFU Championship in 2020 and the U20 AFCON title in 2021, highlight his ability to shape young talents into formidable competitors on the global stage.

Currently leading Dreams FC, Zito has propelled the club to unprecedented success, notably guiding them to the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup in their inaugural participation in African club competitions.

In his playing days, Abdul Karim Zito showcased his skills for notable clubs such as GIHOC Stars, Juantex FC, Asante Kotoko, and Kumapim Stars.
