Walewale-based Division Two side, Catholic Stars became the first team from the North-East Region to qualify for the National Division One League after their 1:0 win over Real Bolga United in the Upper East Region Second Division Middle League final match on Sunday, 28th April, 2024 at the Kurt Okraku Technical Center, Winkogo.
The Walewale-based side kept a 100% record in their Middle League campaign as they hammered Zebilla Toende United 6:1 in their opening match and also lashed Navrongo Mission Warriors SC 6:3 in their second match.
The team after almost 12 years in the Upper East Region Second Division League has finally made their own history.
Jamal Nantomah’s 89th minute goal was all they needed to secure the three points and qualification to this season’s Access Bank Division One League.
Walewale Catholic Stars scored 13 goals and conceded 4 goals in the three matches played during the middle league.
A coronation match will be organised for them in the coming days.
