The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has urged the Ghana national football team to approach their upcoming international friendlies with a winning mentality.
As part of preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Ghana will take on Austria national football team and Germany national football team later this month.
The Black Stars are set to face Austria at the Ernst Happel Stadium on March 27 before travelling to Stuttgart to play Germany on March 30.
Speaking to Graphic Sports, Adams made it clear that the technical team, led by Otto Addo, has been instructed to prioritize results.
“I’ve told the coaches that these two friendlies, we are going with the mindset of winning, not just going to try players,” he stated.
The team opened camp on Sunday and held their first training session on Monday with 21 players already in camp, while Alexander Djiku and Kojo Oppong Peprah are expected to join the squad soon.
Beyond the March fixtures, Ghana will also face Mexico national football team and Wales national football team in May and June as preparations intensify for the World Cup.
With expectations rising, the message from the Sports Minister is clear: the Black Stars must compete and win as they build towards the global tournament.
