Black Starlets head coach Laryea Kingston, is confident ahead of his team’s first match against Ivory Coast in the WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship.
The former Black Stars winger believes his team has been well-prepared for the tournament and is certain they will deliver in Wednesday’s game.
Expressing gratitude to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for their support in preparing the team, Kingston stated, “We are ready. Preparations have been very good and from our last training, the boys are looking very good for the game.”
While acknowledging the pressure on him and his players to perform, especially since Ghana has not qualified for the U20 AFCON since 2017, Kingston emphasized their readiness to meet expectations.
“Yes, we’re under pressure to perform because, in the last two editions, we have not been able to qualify. I know Ghanaians expect us to qualify and that puts some pressure on us,” he admitted. “There is pressure on us but where we’ve taken the boys to and the preparations we have had, thanks to the FA, we’re ready.”
The Black Starlets are grouped with Ivory Coast and Benin in Group A.
