Henry Asante Twum has revealed that the Ghana Football Association is focused on building a solid and competitive Ghana national football team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Communications Director explained that the inclusion of new players in the latest squad is part of a broader plan to strengthen depth and improve competition within the team.
Head coach Otto Addo recently named a 26-man squad for upcoming friendlies against Austria national football team and Germany national football team, handing first-time call-ups to several players.
“We want to build a strong team. We want to get to a point where even without our senior players, we can still perform comfortably,” Asante Twum said on Asempa FM.
He added that the goal is to ensure every player fights for a place in the squad, raising the overall standard of the team.
“We want to create a competitive environment where every player pushes each other to improve.”
Ghana will face Austria on March 27 before taking on Germany on March 30 as preparations continue for the World Cup.
