Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, has reaffirmed Ghana’s strong commitment to returning to the FIFA World Cup and transforming domestic football into a competitive and attractive product.
Speaking at the launch of the Ghana Football Association’s partnership with Adesa Productions Limited, Hon. Adams emphasized the government’s dual focus on international success and the revitalization of local leagues.
“We are not only going to work hard to qualify for the 2026 World Cup but we are going to make sure our leagues become competitive and attractive,” the Minister declared.

He noted that the Ghanaian sports sector is entering a new phase of strategic planning and resource mobilization, especially through partnerships with the private sector, to raise the standard of performance at all levels of the game. According to him, national pride, youth development, and industry growth are all central to the Ministry’s renewed vision.
Hon. Adams highlighted the need for long-term investments, better infrastructure, and improved media coverage to restore the public’s confidence and passion in the domestic leagues. He praised the GFA for taking bold steps in reforming Ghana football and pledged the full support of his Ministry.

Ghana is currently in the qualifying race for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and the Minister’s remarks are seen as a clear signal of national ambition backed by policy direction.
