“Winning Ghana Premier League title is a dream come true” – FC Samartex coach Nurudeen Amadu

FC Samartex head coach, Nurudeen Amadu, is bathing in joy after leading the team to clinch their first Ghana Premier League championship.

Samartex secured the title with a 1-0 victory over Bibiani Gold Stars on Sunday during Matchday 32 at the Nsenkyire Sports Complex with just two games left in the 2023/24 season, .

In an interview with Kumasi-Based Akoma FM, the former King Faisal coach, expressed his joy and give props to  Prof. Joseph Mintah for his recommendation. “Not many at Samartex, including the fans, knew who I was,” he said.

“The aim was to finish higher than last season, not to win the league. So, winning is a monumental achievement. It’s a dream come true for me. Many thanks to Prof. Mintah, who recommended me to Samartex, and to Edmund Ackah, who had immense faith in me,” he added.

With Samatex FC looking forward competing in the CAF Champions League next season, coach Nurudeen emphasized the ambition to replicate the success of Medeama SC and Dreams FC in CAF inter-club competitions.

“While we are still celebrating, management will meet later to talk about strengthening the team with more seasoned players travelling to Africa, as the majority of our players are from lower divisions,” he said.

“We’ll attempt to emulate Medeama and Dreams FC in Africa and see if we can accomplish their feats. If we don’t succeed, that’s okay, but I believe their actions should serve as inspiration for us to compete in Africa,” he added.

In the remaining fixtures, FC Samartex will visit Karela United at the Naa Sheriga Sports Complex before concluding the season at home against Accra Lions.
