Asante Kotoko’s juvenile side, the Young Porcupines, have secured promotion to the Ashanti Regional Division Two after an impressive campaign in the third-tier league.
The youth side was formed during the early stages of the club’s Interim Management Committee administration and competed in the Ashanti Regional Division Three League during the 2025/26 season.
Under the guidance of coach Hamza Obeng, assisted by Akwasi Kusi and former Kotoko goalkeeper Eric Nii Baah, the Young Porcupines enjoyed a remarkable season and finished the regular campaign unbeaten.
The team recorded nine victories during an 11-match unbeaten run, scoring 28 goals while conceding only seven to book a place in the Division Three Middle League Play-Offs.
Their promotion journey began with a victory over Kumasi Royal Priesthood, with Lawson Kyei Manu and Benjamin Owusu Ansah finding the net to send the side into the Round of 16.
The Young Porcupines then produced a dominant display against S.S. Europa, scoring six unanswered goals to advance to the playoff final against Agya Football Club.
Promotion was eventually sealed on Thursday at the Sofoline Astroturf after Anthony Duah scored the decisive goal in the 80th minute to secure a historic victory for the team.
The achievement marks an important milestone for Kotoko’s youth development project as the club continues to strengthen its talent pipeline for the future.
