Uganda U17 national football team, coached by former Ghana international Laryea Kingston, have been drawn in a challenging Group B for the 2026 edition of the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
Uganda will face former champions Cameroon and Ivory Coast, as well as DR Congo in what promises to be a highly competitive group stage contest.
Cameroon enter the tournament with a strong pedigree, having lifted the continental title in 2003 and again in 2019, while Ivory Coast were crowned champions in the 2013 edition. DR Congo will also be aiming to make a strong impression in the group.
For Uganda, the tournament presents a significant opportunity under the leadership of Kingston, who has been tasked with guiding the team to new heights on the continental stage. The former Ghana international brings valuable experience and leadership as he seeks to steer the young side through a demanding group.
The competition will be hosted in Morocco from May 13 to June 2, 2026, bringing together the best U17 teams across Africa in a month-long festival of youth football.
With qualification to the FIFA U-17 World Cup also at stake, Kingston will be hoping to lead Uganda to a strong showing in Morocco and secure a historic place at the global tournament, which will take place later this year in Qatar.
