Ghana Black Damsels will face Burkina Faso in the final of the CAF African Schools Football Championship after both teams progressed from the semi-finals to set up a familiar WAFU B showdown.
Ghana secured their place in the final with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Zambia on Thursday, April 9, in Harare, Zimbabwe.
The Black Damsels made a bright start and took the lead as early as the eighth minute. Blessing Tettey capitalised on space down the right flank before firing a powerful long-range strike past the Zambian goalkeeper.
That early goal proved decisive, as Ghana maintained control of the game and showed composure to protect their advantage until the final whistle.
Led by captain Sandra Boakye, the defending champions demonstrated discipline and maturity as they kept their title defence on course.
Having lifted the trophy in Accra last year after defeating Uganda, Ghana now have another opportunity to retain their continental crown.
However, they will face a stern test against Burkina Faso, who have already beaten Ghana twice—once in the WAFU B final and again during the group stage of the ongoing tournament.
Burkina Faso booked their place in the final after edging past Morocco in their semi-final encounter.
Friday’s final now offers Ghana a chance at redemption as they aim to overcome a familiar rival and successfully defend their title.
