Newly appointed Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has described his new role as a “mission” after officially taking charge of Ghana national football team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The experienced tactician was unveiled on Monday evening on a short-term four-month deal, with the responsibility of guiding Ghana through the global tournament in North America.
In his first public remarks, Queiroz expressed gratitude and a strong sense of purpose as he begins his tenure.
“It is with a deep sense of gratitude, responsibility, and humility that I embrace this new chapter with Ghana. This is not just another job; it is a mission,” he said.
The 71-year-old is expected to begin work immediately, focusing on squad assessment, assembling his technical team, and preparing tactically for the World Cup.
He will get his first opportunity to assess the squad during next month’s friendly against Mexico, before Ghana wraps up preparations with a final warm-up game against Wales.
