Benjamin Asare believes criticism is unavoidable in football and insists even the world’s top goalkeepers are not immune from mistakes and public pressure.
The Black Stars goalkeeper addressed concerns from some supporters over his ability to perform against elite opposition at the upcoming FIFA World Cup, where Ghana will face strong competition in the group stage.
According to the Hearts of Oak shot-stopper, football at the highest level naturally comes with scrutiny, regardless of a player’s experience or reputation.
“Although by God’s grace I’ve reached this level, some of these players also play against top goalkeepers who even concede. So how much more me, now making strides thanks to God,” Asare told 3Sports.
The goalkeeper’s comments come as preparations intensify ahead of the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Asare has established himself as one of the most talked-about goalkeepers in Ghana football following his performances for Hearts of Oak and his growing influence within the national team setup.
