Paul Reverson Backs Black Stars for Deep World Cup Run

Young goalkeeper Paul Reverson believes Ghana have what it takes to surprise the world at the 2026 FIFA World Cup despite missing out on the final squad for the tournament.

The Ajax prospect spent several weeks training alongside the Black Stars during their preparations and remains confident the team can achieve something special in North America.

While many observers have questioned Ghana’s chances in a difficult group featuring England, Croatia and Panama, Reverson is optimistic about the squad’s potential.

“I think Ghana can reach the semi-finals and even further,” the 20-year-old said.

Reverson’s confidence comes after witnessing the quality and commitment within the squad during camp. The goalkeeper was among the emerging players invited by head coach Carlos Queiroz as part of preparations ahead of the tournament.

Although he narrowly missed out on a place in the final 26-man squad, the youngster believes the Black Stars possess the talent and mentality needed to compete with the world’s best teams.

Ghana are preparing for their fifth appearance at the FIFA World Cup and will be hoping to improve on their recent performances after group-stage exits in 2014 and 2022.

For Reverson, the tournament may have come too soon personally, but he remains fully behind the team and is convinced the Black Stars can exceed expectations on football’s biggest stage.
