Newly appointed Asante Kotoko Director of Football Stanley Menzo has pledged to help restore the club’s status as a dominant force in Ghanaian and African football following his arrival in Kumasi.
The former Ajax and Netherlands goalkeeper was officially unveiled on Monday as part of Kotoko’s restructuring plans ahead of the new season.
Menzo joins the Porcupine Warriors with a wealth of experience gained from decades in football as a player, coach and administrator across Europe, Africa and Asia.
The 62-year-old enjoyed a decorated playing career with Ajax, where he made more than 300 appearances and won several major trophies, including the European Cup Winners’ Cup and UEFA Cup. He also represented the Netherlands at the 1990 FIFA World Cup.
Kotoko say Menzo will play a leading role in shaping the club’s football philosophy, overseeing recruitment, player development and the integration of the academy with the senior team.
The Dutch football expert will also supervise technical matters at the club while management continues its search for a substantive head coach.
Speaking after accepting the role, Menzo described the opportunity as a privilege and expressed excitement about working with the club’s players, technical staff and supporters.
His appointment comes as Kotoko seek to rebuild following a disappointing 2025/26 campaign that saw the club finish outside the title race.
The club believes Menzo’s international experience, technical expertise and extensive football network can provide the foundation for a new era of success as the Porcupine Warriors target a return to domestic and continental prominence.
