The Black Stars concluded their FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign with a 24th-place finish in the tournament’s final standings following the conclusion of the competition.
The rankings, released after the World Cup final, place Ghana among the top half of the 48 participating nations, reflecting a campaign that saw the four-time African champions progress beyond the group stage for the first time since the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Spain were crowned world champions and finished first in the final standings, followed by Argentina in second place and England in third.
France, Norway, Belgium, Morocco, Switzerland, Mexico and Colombia completed the top 10.
Among the African representatives, Morocco led the continent with a seventh-place finish after another impressive World Cup showing. Côte d’Ivoire placed 19th, DR Congo finished 23rd, while Ghana secured 24th position. Algeria (30th), Senegal (31st), Cabo Verde (32nd), South Africa (26th), Egypt (15th) and Tunisia (47th) were the other African nations in the final rankings.
Ghana’s campaign featured several encouraging performances as the Black Stars returned to the knockout stages for the first time in 16 years, underlining the team’s progress on football’s biggest stage.
The final standings mark another milestone for the black stars, who will now shift their focus to upcoming Afcon qualifiers in September, as they look to build on the positives from the World Cup campaign.
