Ghanaian youngster Abdul Hakim Sulemana will not be joining Scottish Premiership side St Mirren after negotiations over his proposed move broke down, ending what had appeared to be a straightforward transfer.
The 21-year-old winger, who is the younger brother of Black Stars forward Kamaldeen Sulemana, had been closing in on a move to the Paisley-based club after both parties reached an agreement in principle earlier in the transfer window. The deal was expected to progress to the medical stage before being completed.
St Mirren have now confirmed that the transfer will not go ahead, with manager Craig McLeish revealing that the club has abandoned the move and shifted its focus to alternative targets as preparations continue for the new Scottish Premiership campaign.
Sulemana had emerged as one of St Mirren’s priority attacking targets due to his pace, direct style of play and potential. The former Black Satellites winger has built a reputation as one of Ghana’s promising young wide players, attracting attention with his performances both at youth level and on the international stage.
Although the reasons behind the collapse of the negotiations have not been disclosed, Sulemana is now expected to continue exploring other opportunities as he looks to secure the next move in his career before the transfer window closes.
