Hearts of Oak head coach Nebojsa Kapor has urged his players to approach their Ghana Premier League clash against Basake Holy Stars with caution, insisting that no team can be underestimated in the competition.
The Phobians will host Holy Stars at the University of Ghana Stadium on Friday, October 23, in a Matchday Eight encounter, with both sides looking to build on their recent results.
Hearts of Oak head into the fixture on the back of consecutive victories over Port City and Vision FC, results that have boosted confidence within the team as they seek to maintain their momentum.
Basake Holy Stars, meanwhile, have recorded mixed results in their last two outings, suffering a defeat to Bibiani Gold Stars before bouncing back with a victory over Bechem United.
Despite the difference in their recent form and the two-point gap separating the teams on the league table, Kapor has warned his players against approaching the game with an attitude of superiority.
The Hearts coach believes his side must remain focused and deliver a strong performance across all departments to secure the desired result.
“We are not going to say we are a better team and we will win. No, never. We are really going to approach them very deep from every single department and from every single individual player,” Kapor said.
The Serbian tactician also highlighted the mental demands of the Ghana Premier League, stressing that his players must be prepared for a difficult contest.
“Every game here is very difficult. Especially from the mentality side, we have to face this game very tough,” he added.
The recent head-to-head record between the two sides also suggests that Friday’s encounter could be closely contested, with both teams having recorded one victory each in their last four meetings.
Hearts will therefore be aiming to make home advantage count as they pursue a third consecutive league victory, while Holy Stars will be determined to frustrate the hosts and return home with a positive result.
