Ghana U-15 Boys depart for Azerbaijan for FIFA World Cup and Festival

Ghana’s U-15 Boys team departed Accra on Wednesday for Azerbaijan to participate in the FIFA U-15 Boys World Cup and Festival.

According to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the contingent, comprising players and technical staff, will represent the country at the global youth festival, which brings together talented U-15 teams from around the world for competitive matches and developmental activities.

The GFA noted that the festival forms part of FIFA’s Talent Development Scheme, which seeks to provide young footballers with early international exposure and opportunities to develop their abilities.

Ghana will be hoping to make a strong impression in Azerbaijan following months of player screening and preparations ahead of the competition.

The young Ghanaian side have been drawn in Group W alongside Uzbekistan, Myanmar, Guam, the Bahamas and Kazakhstan.

Ghana will begin their campaign against Uzbekistan on Saturday, October 24, before returning to action on Sunday, October 25, for matches against Myanmar and Guam.

The team will conclude their group-stage fixtures on Monday, October 26, with encounters against the Bahamas and Kazakhstan.

The schedule will see Ghana play five group matches in three days, providing the players with valuable opportunities to test their abilities against international opposition.

The festival’s format is designed to maximise playing time and development opportunities for participating youngsters, allowing them to gain experience in an international football environment.

Ghana’s participation is expected to provide an important platform for the country’s emerging talents to develop their skills and gain exposure as they continue their football journeys.
