“If He’s Fit, He Must Go” – NSA Boss Yaw Ampofo Ankrah Backs Andre Ayew’s World Cup Inclusion

Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, Director General of the National Sports Authority, has strongly endorsed the inclusion of Andre Ayew in Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ankrah believes the veteran forward’s experience makes him an indispensable figure for the Black Stars, especially on the global stage.

“If Andre Dede Ayew is fit, he should be included in the Black Stars squad for the World Cup because he is Ghana’s most experienced player,” he stated.

The 36-year-old, who recently netted his first goal for Dutch side NAC Breda, has been at the center of debate among fans and pundits over his potential inclusion in the squad.

As Ghana’s most capped player, Ayew brings a wealth of experience, having featured in multiple World Cups and Africa Cup of Nations tournaments. Ankrah insists that such experience is crucial in high-pressure competitions.

With a new head coach expected to be appointed soon, uncertainty still surrounds Ayew’s role in the team. However, Ankrah maintains that the decision should be straightforward if the forward is fit.

Ghana have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama, with their World Cup campaign set to begin on June 17 in Toronto. The final squad is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
