“I’m Not Expecting Much” – Kwadwo Asamoah Offers Honest World Cup Outlook

Former Ghana international Kwadwo Asamoah has delivered a cautious assessment of the Ghana national football team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Drawn in Group L alongside England national football team, Croatia national football team, and Panama national football team, Ghana face a challenging path in the expanded 48-team tournament.

Speaking to 3Sports, the former Juventus FC midfielder admitted he is keeping expectations in check despite the nation’s proud World Cup pedigree.

“Honestly, I’m not expecting much, but I’m hoping for the best,” he said.

Asamoah stressed that the modern World Cup leaves little room for complacency, warning that perceived underdogs can no longer be taken lightly.

“There is no small or big country at the World Cup. Every team comes prepared and gives everything,” he added, urging Ghana to approach each match with focus and respect.

The Black Stars will open their campaign against Panama on June 17, before facing England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27, as they aim to make an impact on their fifth appearance at football’s biggest stage.
